In this two hour craft class, Eli Francovich of The Spokesman-Review and Summer Hess of Out There Outdoors will introduce essential tools and techniques for writing about the outdoors, including selecting topics, pitching ideas, adding color and life through details, conducting interviews and structuring articles. Writers will participate in free-writing exercises, engage in discussion, and will be encouraged to submit work to a writing contest put on by Get Lit!, Out There Outdoors, and The Spokesman-Review. Contest guidelines are available via
www.getlit.submittable.com. *Note that participation in the craft class is not a requirement for submitting to the contest.
